My work explores the precarious tension and balance between order and disorder. I have sought to combine these two disparate impulses in many of my most recent paintings -- some of which are more reductive in nature, and some which are additive. My latest "Color Fragment" series combines both layers of paint and brightly colored gaffer's tape in works that are meant to evoke the fragile nature of reality. We use tape to repair and mend, create order out of brokenness and disorder. That repair is often temporary. And yet, in that fragility, we can find beauty, energy, and even a sense of exuberance.
